Arlene's Cicada Sundae

Here's a delicious treated created in honor of the cicada invasion that never was.

Ingredients:

  • one box Haagen-Dazs chocolate dark chocolate cream bars (three in a box)
  • Fox's U-Bet Chocolate Syrup
  • jar (any brand) Maraschino cherries
Tools required:
  • one large plate
  • one sharp knife
  • a few napkins
After removing one ice cream bar from the box, place it flat side against a firm plate.

Make one cut on each side of the ice cream bar at a 90 degree angle. These will be the wings.

Drizzle chocolate syrup over the ice cream bar and onto the plate.

Add two maraschino cherries to the top of the ice cream bar at the front (not the stick side). These will be the eyes.

Voila! You now have a Cicada Sundae. Enjoy!

Note: No cicadas have been harmed in the making of this treat.

Now that's a good idea. we had them bursting out of the ground a few years back...I suppose in about 13 years, they will be back and I can have this treat to celebrate.
